The X Factors – Post Covid 19

The X Factors - Post Covid 19

There is a lot of positive news around suggesting that in a phased-wise manner we will go back to near normal. The offices may open up with limited employees and a lot of riders. On one hand, this is positive for people to get into the thick of actions, but on the other hand, this would also lead to additional pressures of pending assignments/work. This additional pressure can lead to a lot of frustration and may affect our way of communication and our humility

As I understand, the “X” factors during these trying times would be Communication and humility (Intent with a backing). People with effective Communication & humility will manage the situation well. This again would be based on two types of messages that one would communicate.

  • Rational messages are conveyed by “What we say”
  • Emotional messages are conveyed by “How we say”

“People will forget what you said, People will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel”

The higher we are placed, the more humbly we should walk. I would rather put it as “Walk the Talk”

This will be the time to Subsume your Ego. Perspective differs but acceptance of a differing opinion is a sign of maturity.

There would be a need to change your lenses. Disagreements should be conveyed in a respectable manner. This will happen as New approaches are and will be used and hence viewpoint of Individuals is important. I would rather put it that “All the wisdom does not be in the Head office”. The Experience of the other colleagues is equally important.

“Compassionate leadership does not mean lack of discipline or lack of decision making. It only means you Value people, and that is the Quality of True Leader”

A very pertinent point. If we haven’t managed to introspect and are able to change ourselves after such a life changing experience to be more humble, we haven’t learnt nor progressed

Lot of things summarized in a very simple and efficient language. Current will be testing time for leadership and on humility and empathetic communication will help to come out of it . All the experience people had post COVID will not matter much as entire dynamic of business has changed. But with these two tools used effectively will help people to manage current situation.
