The era of Hindi motion movies which started with the silent movie, Raja Harishchandra (1913), got a new voice by Alam Ara (1931), climbed newer heights with movies like Aag (1948), Hum Aapke Hain Kaun (1994) and Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), has never looked back ever since . Today Bollywood is a revolution, and a revelation of us, our country and our society. Today Bollywood is a full-fledged industry, whose market extends to other continents like USA and UK. Indeed, it is the period of “Bollywood shining” with an overseas as well as a domestic appeal and a market seen never before.
Importance of scenes
Though the speciality of Bollywood movies remain songs and soul-touching lyrics, the backbone still remains the same- good scenes with maarvelous performances. There have been scenes which have giggled our bones, and scenes which brought out the romantic in us, and scenes which made us cry. Here are seven of the top ten scenes of recent times:
Tare Zameen par:
One of the most meaningful movies of recent times. Though the whole movie was a masterpiece, the last scene of the song “ Tu Dhoop Hai” where Darsheel sees Aamir’s painting of him, is unmatchable. His expressions were fantastic in it. The separation scene between Ishaan and his mother deserves mention too.
Kuch Kuch Hota Hai:
The rain scene, where Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan dance to an imaginary tune in the rain at the summer camp is one of the most perfectly picturised romantic scenes in recent years. One falls in love with Rahul, and Anjali, and their friendship, and their love, over and over again.
Munnabhai MBBS :
People loved the scene when the aged man, who had lost his desire to live, and hence had stopped eating, drank a glass of juice and played carom with Sanjay Dutt, in the hospital ward. How small acts by us can bring about happiness to others is well depicted in this scene.
Lagaan:
The last ball of the last over…everyone waiting with bated breath to know the fate of Bhuvan and his village…. And when the ball goes across the boundary, there is no stopping the teammates, and the audience, from cheering out loud.
Bhool Bhulaiyaa:
The scene when Vidya Balan turns into vengeful Manjulika, and lifts the bed . The expressions on her face and the look in her eyes are very scary then. And just after a minute, when she realizes she is Avni, she is scared herself, and confused about her actions.
Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham:
It’s all about loving our parents, and our country. Our national anthem is our pride. The entire audience, including the British, stood up when Kajol and his son sang it at the school function.
Namastey London:
The last dance of Katrina and Akshay, and the conversation between them, before he leaves for India was a scene worth remembering . The chemistry between the two was flawless, and every one’s heart went out to Akshay for his sacrifice.
